Po yre Menkragnotire

Aerial view of Kubenkokre village, located in the Menkragnoti Indigenous Territory. This is the political centre of the seventeen villages affiliated with the Kabu Institute, a non-profit organisation founded by the Kayapó Indigenous people dedicated to defending their territories and rights. The chief of the Indigenous territory lives in the centre of the village. In the background is the Iriri River, the primary food source for the communities. At the heart of the village is the so-called Men's House, where both men and women discuss and participate in important decisions. Around 800 people live in the two circular villages shown in the photo.
